Practice-Based Research Network
The purpose of the Practiced Based Research Unit (PBRU) is to stimulate clinical research collaboration among University of Chicago investigators and health care organizations in Chicago, with a special focus on collaboration with Access Community Health Network, Advocate Health Care and other healthcare organizations on the Southside of Chicago, and with NorthShore University Health System. The Pilot and Collaborative Translational and Clinical Studies Awards programs provides initial funding for promising and innovative collaborative projects through a competitive mechanism.
“Practice Based Research Networks (PBRNs) are one of the most promising vehicles for studying and improving medical care in office settings. The Powerpoint presentation, "An Introduction to Practice Based Research Networks" provides an overview of the purpose and value of these clinical research laboratories. The presentation was prepared by Dr. John Hickner, a national expert on practice based research who has over 25 years experience with PBRN research as a network director and researcher."
"Case Western Reserve University has a fellowship program for investigators who wish to do clinical research in collaboration with community physicians and their medical practices. This link leads to a series of 7 practice based research methods seminars that were audio recorded. The seminar series introduces clinical researchers to topics of critical importance in collaborating with community clinicians. Powerpoint presentations are also available on the website. All of these materials can be accessed without charge. The presenters have given permission for you to download and use these materials for your own use."
